Welcome

Who are we?

We are Great Yorkshire Morris (GYM), a men’s Morris side based in West Yorkshire. We mainly dance in the Cotswold style (bells, hankies and sticks). We also dance some Longsword (rigid swords) and Rapper (wobbly swords) style dances.

GYM was founded in 2005 by members of several other local sides who were on the verge of folding due to lack of members and we “danced in” as members of the Morris Ring in 2009.

Our mascot is Bill the Badger. He appears from time to time to support us, though he’s been a bit more cautious of late due to the risk of being culled!

When and where do we do it?

Over the autumn and winter we practice most Wednesday nights at the Village Hall, Pool in Wharfedale, LS21 1RY.

Over the summer we can often be found ‘dancing out’ at pubs around the area, and sometimes further a field. We have performed at folk festivals across the UK and occasionally beyond!
