Great Yorkshire Morris were formed in 2005 by members of several local Morris sides. We practice on alternate Wednesdays (roughly) in Pool in Wharfedale, which is between Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate.
We are a men's Morris side, performing a mixture of Cotswold and Longsword dances, with occasional forays into Border and Rapper styles.
We record with sadness the passing of our friend and musician John Page, on the first of February 2013. The funeral was at Stonefall Crematorium, Harrogate, on 21 February. The cortege included Dobbin, one of JP's "children", and his younger offspring "Bill the Badger" was also present.
You can watch GYM dancing Bonny Green Garters (the Morrisman's traditional farewell) in the funeral chapel, attended by Dobbin and Bill, on YouTube here
Our next event is an invitation to teach at the Saltaire Day of Dance on Saturday 18 May
